H Brannen
A
distinguished career in the service of the radio branch, extending back 45
years, came to a close when Harris H. Brannen, regional superintendent, radio
regulations, retired on November 21.Mr. Brannen received his first training as a
radio operator in 1912 with the Canadian Marconi Company on Sable Island. He en
listed in the Royal Canadian Navy and until the end of the First World War
served as a warrant officer telegraphist on patrol boats and minesweepers.In
1918 he took a post as radio operator at the federal government finding station
on Sable Island. He subsequently served at Chebucto Head, Yarmouth and, from
1926 to 1948, Saint John.In 1948 Mr. Brannen was promoted to assistant to the
superintendent of radio at Halifax, where he remained until being appointed
regional superintendent of radio regulations at Moncton.
